Ambassador Pasi and members of the U.S. Embassy team traveled to Tigray
Ambassador Pasi and members of the U.S. Embassy team traveled to Tigray to meet with the government, civil society, and humanitarian leaders. Ambassador Pasi met with Dr. Mulu Nega, CEO of the Transitional Government of Tigray, to receive an update on the local situation, as well as a status report on the acute humanitarian needs of people affected by the conflict. She reiterated U.S. support for these efforts underscored by the recent commitment of $52 million USD.
Ambassador Pasi visited an IDP camp to hear the stories of people displaced by the conflict and observed a USAID-supported food distribution warehouse to thank aid workers delivering supplies to communities in the region.
Ambassador Pasi also delivered remarks at a civil society dialogue event to underscore U.S. support in revitalizing the region’s civil society sector. She also met with leaders from opposition political parties to hear their perspectives on current affairs in Tigray.
