The terrorist TPLF forces killed scores of civilians, raped women, looted and destroyed public and private property in Debresina, Shewarobit and Mezezo towns, North Shewa Zone of the Amhara State, eye witnesses and Pictures at Bottom recounted.

Approached by the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA), residents of the newly-liberated town said fighters of the criminal bandit group committed heinous crimes against the civilian community before being dislodged by the joint forces of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), Amhara Special Forces, Fano and local militia.

TPLF forces have committed in Shewa industry-scale rape, torture, and execution of civilians in Debresina and Shewarobit towns. They have vandalized and destroyed hundreds of properties and ransacked businesses.

Amele Wubshet, a resident of Mezezo whose brother was killed by the cold-blooded TPLF dissidents, bitterly recalled that she was forbidden to express her grief to her deceased brother. The gangs indiscriminately killed many civilians, raped women and looted and destroyed public and private properties.

“The terrorist group committed grave atrocities that deviated from our culture and values.” Another victim of TPLF’s crime told local media that the rebels threatened to kill his children and wife if he did not give them the money and they forcibly took

37,000 Birr. “The dissidents broke into my warehouse and stole 128 soft drink and beer bottle boxes.” In a clear manifestation of the ferocity of TPLF’s aggression, several private businesses and public service centers in Mezezo Shewarobit and Debresina were being looted and destroyed, a different eyewitness indicated. “In their few days of control of the town, TPLF fighters broke into private homes and took everything they could.”

A female victim who sustained sexual assault by TPLF fighter said for her part that the situation has created a psychological trauma and immensely affects her life.
